The Ukrainian Armed Forces are liberating villages in the Kharkiv region and have pushed the Russians back to the border — Tregubov
Ukrainian troops have successfully pushed Russian occupation forces back to the state border in the Velyka Burlutka area, forcing them to abandon two settlements over the course of a month.
Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, spoke about the positive developments on the front lines during a national television broadcast.
The situation on this section of the front has significantly improved for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to the spokesperson, the active actions of Ukrainian defenders have allowed them to regain control of lost positions. Russian units suffered significant losses and were forced to retreat under pressure from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The Velykoburlutsky sector has returned to the situation that existed about a year ago,” Viktor Tregubov emphasized during the live broadcast.
At the same time, heavy defensive battles are ongoing in the neighboring Kupiansk sector. Russian troops are attempting to advance along the eastern bank of the river and are making attempts to infiltrate the northern outskirts of the city.
However, all these enemy assaults are not yielding the results desired by the Russian command and are being repelled in a timely manner.
Ukrainian units are clearing city blocks of the remnants of enemy groups that had infiltrated them earlier.
“They are currently ineffective and are not reaching the city, but, unfortunately, there are still a few ‘survivors’ within the city itself, as well as some individuals who managed to get in by infiltrating through a pipe about a month ago,” the spokesperson clarified the current details.
An equally tense situation is unfolding in the Lyman sector, where constant clashes are ongoing. The invaders are most active in the area around the village of Borova, located north of Lyman.
At the same time, the Russian command is actively spreading fake reports of advances that do not correspond at all to the actual situation on the battlefield.
The occupiers’ military leadership is attempting to artificially inflate the scale of their operations in the media.
“The Russians have completely exaggerated their own successes there,” noted Viktor Tregubov, commenting on the enemy’s official statements.
The enemy has achieved no real successes on this section of the front due to the resilience of the Ukrainian defense.
Enemy activity is also being recorded in the Vovchansk direction and in the border areas of the Sumy region, but the Russians have completely lost their momentum.
The invaders have shifted from offensive operations to attempts to hold onto positions they have already occupied. The occupying forces are forced to dig in instead of launching new large-scale assaults in the border areas.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the elimination of 920 occupiers over the past 24 hours
As a reminder, on May 16, the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed and wounded 1,170 Russian occupiers. The enemy’s total losses in the war have reached 1,348,790 personnel.
Prior to this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated another 1,020 Russian troops on the front lines over the past 24 hours.
The occupiers complain that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are cutting off the land corridor to Crimea with drones.
