92% of Israelis named Iran as the winner of the war

A poll was released in Israel showing a stark public perception of the recent conflict with Iran. The overwhelming majority of respondents believe that Tehran emerged victorious from this war, while the consequences for Israel itself were negative.

A large-scale public opinion poll was conducted in Israel, which revealed a fairly unanimous assessment of the recent war with Iran among citizens. According to the data, 92.1% of those surveyed believe that Iran ultimately emerged victorious, and a majority of respondents also state that the conflict has weakened the country’s long-term security.

The study was published by The Times of Israel and conducted by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in collaboration with the Agam Institute between June 17 and 20. A total of 3,644 respondents participated, and the results proved revealing even for supporters of the government camp: among voters in the right-wing bloc that supports Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, more than 93% also agreed with the assessment that Iran had “won.”

Separately, 82.9% of survey participants stated that the six-week military campaign did not strengthen, but rather weakened, Israel’s strategic security. Another 86% viewed both the conduct of the military operations and the diplomatic outcomes of the agreement between the U.S. and Iran—concluded without Jerusalem’s participation—negatively.

Additionally, about 88% of respondents believe that Israel either failed to achieve its stated war aims or achieved them only partially. These include the intentions to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, reduce the missile threat, and influence the political regime in Tehran—objectives that were officially declared by Israel and the U.S., according to The Times of Israel.

Despite the declared ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli forces carried out strikes on Lebanese territory. At least five people were killed in the shelling, including a Lebanese army soldier. The sides once again exchanged harsh statements, and the ceasefire was effectively on the verge of collapse.

U.S. intelligence warned the Donald Trump administration that Israel’s actions could jeopardize recent efforts to reach a long-term peace agreement with Iran.
