Abrahamic Movement has more than 20 chapters — Jerusalem Post
The Abrahamic Movement initiative, which brings together Israelis and people from Muslim countries, has more than 20 chapters and tens of thousands of supporters. Its participants advocate dialogue and the normalization of relations with Israel, despite legal and personal risks in certain countries in the region.
As The Jerusalem Post reports, the movement was founded in 2019 by Tom Wegner, the initiative’s CEO and the author of the book “The Abrahamic Revolution.” According to him, after October 7, 2023, the movement began gaining supporters more rapidly.
Shared identity
Wegner proposes forming a broader regional identity based on a shared Abrahamic heritage. He believes that conflicts in the Middle East cannot be resolved solely by establishing borders, as they are also connected to identity and the division of people into in-groups and out-groups.
The head of the initiative also promotes the concept of Abrahamic Islam. He refers to mentions of the Children of Israel in the Quran as a possible basis for dialogue between Jews and Muslims. According to the publication, the movement operates thanks to volunteers and has no funding.

Risks in Pakistan and Iraq
The head of the Pakistani chapter, Khurram Ali Raza, said that Pakistani authorities investigated him over his public statements supporting peace with Israel. According to him, after suspicions of cooperation with Israel, which he called unfounded, he spent four months in prison. Raza describes himself not as a supporter of Israel, but as a supporter of Abraham.
In Iraq, parliament passed a law in May 2022 criminalizing normalization and the establishment of relations with Israel. For a number of actions related to normalization, the law provides for life imprisonment or the death penalty. In July 2025, the al-Karkh court in Baghdad sentenced a man to life imprisonment over social media posts supporting normalization, Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council reported.
Sunni theologian Abu Musa al-Iraqi, who used a pseudonym, told the publication that peaceful relations with Israel could help Iraq counter extremism. At the same time, the Hizb ut-Tahrir group publicly criticized the Abrahamic Movement’s activity in Iraq, calling it a continuation of normalization with Israel.
