The American nuclear submarine USS Oregon has arrived in Scotland
The USS Oregon, a U.S. Virginia-class nuclear submarine, has arrived at the Faslane Naval Base in Scotland. This was reported by the U.S. Navy, according to “European Truth.”
The submarine’s visit is part of a scheduled deployment within the area of responsibility of the U.S. Sixth Fleet. During its stay at Faslane, the submarine will undergo scheduled maintenance and replenish its supplies, while its crew will have the opportunity to rest after a long deployment at sea and experience the local culture.
Captain Doug Suttler, commander of Task Force 69, thanked British partners for their support and hospitality. He noted that the U.S. partnership with the Royal Navy is crucial for maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The U.S. Navy noted that Virginia-class nuclear submarines, thanks to their autonomy, stealth, and endurance, can carry out missions for extended periods in various parts of the world. Currently, the USS Oregon is conducting a series of operations within the U.S. Sixth Fleet’s area of responsibility, supporting U.S. national security objectives and promoting interoperability with NATO allies and partners. The Sixth Fleet headquarters is located in Naples, Italy.
