ARTE and BIRN examined claims of “sniper safaris” in Sarajevo
In Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, ARTE, in cooperation with the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, examined claims about so-called “sniper safaris” during the siege of the city in the 1990s. According to Balkan Insight, wealthy Europeans allegedly paid for the opportunity to shoot at civilians from Bosnian Serb sniper positions.
No conclusive evidence
These claims gained international attention and became the subject of several investigations. At the same time, as the outlet notes, there is currently no convincing conclusive evidence that such incidents actually took place.
