Asim Munir discusses defense technologies with POWERUS in Pakistan

Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met in Rawalpindi with a delegation from the US company POWERUS, which specializes in solutions for defense and critical infrastructure. The parties discussed trends in the development of defense technologies and possible areas of cooperation, Dawn reports, citing Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations.

Defense procurement and production

The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation in defense procurement, production, and capacity building. The POWERUS delegation was led by Robert Bret Velicovich.

According to ISPR, Munir emphasized the importance of technological innovation and advanced solutions for strengthening national security and resilience. Both sides also expressed interest in further developing contacts in areas of mutual interest.

In January, US and Pakistani military personnel completed training at the National Counter Terrorism Centre as part of the Inspired Gambit exercises. They focused on joint infantry skills and tactics, as well as counterterrorism operations. In December last year, the United States approved the sale to Pakistan of advanced technologies and F-16 fighter modernization packages worth about $686 million.
