White House reveals menu for Trump-Xi state dinner — The National

US President Donald Trump will host a state dinner at the White House in Washington on Thursday in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This will be the Chinese leader's second official visit to Washington and the first in 11 years, The National reports.

American and Chinese motifs

The White House said the menu will combine American ingredients with subtle Chinese influences and the culinary traditions of both countries. The dinner will begin with a toast of Schramsberg Blanc de Noir sparkling wine. It was chosen in remembrance of the toast to peace exchanged in Beijing in 1972 by then US President Richard Nixon and Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai.

The first course will be sweet yellow squash velouté with wild mushrooms sautéed with fresh herbs. These ingredients form a rich fricassee, complemented by crispy pancetta. The main course will be sea bass in a toasted sesame crust, served with baby bok choy, roasted garden eggplant, and a green sauce made with fresh herbs.

Dessert and musical program

For dessert, guests will be offered vanilla crémeux with a sour cherry confit center on nut frangipane. It will be served with ice cream made with honey harvested at the White House.

Tenor Christopher Macchio, who sang at the 2025 presidential inauguration, will perform for the guests. The program also includes military musical ensembles: the US Marine Band The President’s Own, The Commandant’s Own Drum and Bugle Corps, the US Army Chorus, and the US Army String Ensemble.

In May, Trump visited China and attended a state dinner in Beijing. The dishes included lobster, Peking duck, salmon, tiramisu, fresh fruit, and fried buns.
