Britain is preparing for a rise in cyberattacks — Reuters

The UK is warning of an increased threat of cyberattacks backed by the governments of certain countries.

This is reported by Reuters.

According to Richard Horn, head of the National Cyber Security Centre, the agency investigates an average of about four serious cyber incidents each week.

He noted that an increasing number of attacks are linked not to cybercriminals, but directly to states. Among the main sources of threats, he named China, Iran, and Russia.

Horn warned that in the event of an escalation or conflict, the UK could face large-scale attacks by hacktivists.

According to him, such attacks could cause significant damage, similar to large-scale cyberattacks using ransomware, but without the possibility of restoring systems by paying a ransom.

Hackers stole user data from Booking.com.

Russian hackers compromised more than 280 accounts belonging to NATO and Balkan institutions.
