In Vilnius, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, presented the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th Class, to the family of Lithuanian filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius. The award was conferred posthumously by the President of Ukraine in recognition of the filmmaker’s contributions and his work covering events in Ukraine.

This was announced by the Head of the Presidential Office, Kirill Budanov.

The presentation ceremony took place in Lithuania and served as a tribute to Kvedaravičius’ memory.

"Ukraine values the contribution of everyone who helps fight for the truth. In Vilnius, I had the honor of presenting the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th Class, to the family of Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravičius, which was awarded to him posthumously by the President of Ukraine. I thanked Mantas’s parents for their courage and dedication to the ideals of truth,” he wrote on Telegram.

Budanov noted that Kvedaravičius shot his first film about Mariupol and the war in eastern Ukraine back in 2016.

"The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won numerous awards. In the early days of the full-scale invasion, the director returned to Mariupol. For about a month, he filmed the lives of Mariupol residents under siege and amid constant fighting," the head of the Presidential Office said.

He recalled that in late March 2022, Kvedaravičius fell into the hands of Russian troops. “They tortured the director, but they couldn’t kill the truth he had managed to film. Thanks to the courage of his fiancée, the rescued footage became the film ‘Mariupolis 2,’ which the whole world has seen,” Budanov added.

Earlier, we reported that Budanovis making a working visit to Lithuania on May 11.

Zelenskyy named three key topics of Umerov’s talks with Trump’s representatives.

Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and head of the Ukrainian negotiating team, arrived in Miami, Florida, on May 7 for a meeting with U.S. representatives.

In reality, Russia is not committed to a genuine end to the war with Ukraine. All so-called negotiations, including those mediated by the U.S., are merely a sham on Moscow’s part.
