The U.S. State Department Reveals Cuba's Role in the War Against Ukraine — Axios

The U.S. Department of State has officially informed Congress of the participation of a significant number of Cuban citizens in combat operations on the side of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by Axios.

According to an unclassified report, Havana is not only providing political support to Moscow but is also deliberately facilitating the recruitment of its citizens into the Russian army for the war against Ukraine.

The U.S. State Department emphasizes that the Cuban regime is involved in supplying manpower, despite attempts to deny the official nature of such cooperation.

Analysts claim that the island’s authorities are effectively turning a blind eye to the recruitment of their subjects, making them one of the largest groups of foreign fighters.

“Public records do not prove that Havana officially sent all Cuban fighters. However, there are strong indications that the regime deliberately facilitated this flow of troops,” the document provided to U.S. congressional committees states.

According to various estimates, the number of Cubans currently on the front lines ranges from 1,000 to 5,000.

This indicates the systematic nature of the Kremlin’s use of foreign resources to replenish losses in the ongoing war of aggression on Ukrainian territory.

The report also emphasizes that the Cuban leadership has not taken any effective measures to protect the population from foreign recruitment.

In addition to military aid, Havana provides the Russian Federation with a stable rear in the international arena by offering “diplomatic and political support to Moscow.”

“Cuban citizens have become one of the largest identified groups of foreign fighters supporting Russian military operations in Ukraine,” state the authors of the April 8 report.
