Eiffel Tower Director Fired After Scandal Involving Women – Politico
Patrick Branko Ruivo, CEO of Société d’exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, will step down by the end of the year after his decision to exclude female employees during a visit by a religious group sparked public and political outcry.
The resignation of the executive, who had led the Eiffel Tower operator for eight years, came as a result of an internal investigation. The probe uncovered a series of systemic violations and failures in the company’s operations.
The scandal erupted over an incident on September 5, when female employees of the tower were ordered to hide so they would not be seen by a delegation from the Hindu organization “Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha,” which has close ties to India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
