The daughter of the head of the Russian General Staff's Mobilization Directorate is helping Russians avoid mobilization
The daughter of General Yevgeny Burdinsky, head of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, works at a law firm that, for a fee, helps Russians obtain deferments from military service, secure exemptions from mobilization, and appeal draft notices.
Ekaterina Burdinskaya works at the Moscow-based law firm Budovnits Family Law Agency. On the company’s website, she is listed as the contact person handling issues related to mobilization.
The firm’s services include assistance in disputes with military registration and enlistment offices, securing “exemption” by allegedly providing proof of employment, as well as “legal support for travel outside the Russian Federation with risk minimization.”
At the same time, to obtain a legal deferment in Russia, a person must work for a company that officially fulfills a state defense contract or a mobilization task.
According to journalists, Burdinskaya has no legal education and has never worked as a lawyer. She graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute and subsequently worked as a sales manager.
The company’s website features customer reviews thanking her for helping them secure exemptions from mobilization.
Her father, Yevgeny Burdinsky, has headed the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation since 2018. He is responsible for mobilization efforts and the recruitment of contract soldiers into the Russian army.
After mobilization was announced in Russia in 2022, Burdinsky was also involved in organizing the recruitment of inmates from Russian penal colonies to participate in the war against Ukraine.
