The EIB will provide Ukraine with €500 million to rebuild infrastructure and support businesses
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing a new financial assistance package to Ukraine worth approximately 500 million euros, which will be used to rebuild critical infrastructure and support small and medium-sized businesses.
According to an EIB representative, the funding will cover both the public and private sectors.
“We are currently investing 500 million euros in the private and public sectors,” he said.
In the public sector, the funds will be directed toward repairing roads and bridges, building social housing, and ensuring a safe water supply for the population.
A significant portion of the package is earmarked for the development of Ukrainian entrepreneurship through affordable loans to small and medium-sized businesses.
“We aim to provide affordable loans to small and medium-sized enterprises. In this way, we support their development and the creation of new jobs,” Neghammer emphasized.
He stressed that support for business is key not only for the economy but also for social stability and the return of citizens to Ukraine once the war ends.
“In this way, we are helping to shape Ukraine’s future—for veterans and for people who want to return home,” said the EIB vice president.
According to the EIB, this support will be provided through guarantees to local banks to issue affordable loans to businesses and through direct financing of specific infrastructure projects.
The bank emphasizes that even amid the war, Ukraine needs stable investment to maintain economic activity and prepare for post-war recovery.
Karl Neghammer, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, made this statement in comments to Ukrinform on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law ratifying a financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank for 134 million euros, which will be allocated to the restoration and development of road infrastructure.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially endorsed the ratification of the financial agreement with the European Investment Bank, which provides for the allocation of 230 million euros for the reconstruction of road infrastructure.
