India's former education minister said that Gen Z was misled during the protests
India’s former Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, has commented publicly for the first time on his resignation following mass youth protests. He stated that during the protests, some people tried to mislead members of Generation Z, according to Deutsche Welle.
Pradhan spoke on Saturday at a ceremony at GM University in Bhubaneswar. He said that he had “suffered” due to Gen Z’s persistence, but later realized that one should try to understand the new generation rather than oppose it.
The former minister said that about 15 days before his speech, he himself approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and offered to resign from the Union Council of Ministers. According to Pradhan, the position was not important to him.

Pradhan’s resignation was the main demand of the youth protesters, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The protests began due to irregularities during competitive exams, particularly the NEET—a test required for admission to medical schools in India.
As DW notes, the NEET exam was canceled due to a leak of exam questions but was later administered. According to reports, at least 21 students took their own lives after the exam was canceled.
