Anne Hathaway will serve as a producer and star in the drama "Yesteryear"
Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with a film adaptation of the novel *Yesteryear*, with Anne Hathaway set to star in the lead role. The actress will also serve as a producer on the project. The deal for the film adaptation was signed even before the book’s official release on April 7. Earlier, reports had surfaced in the industry about her involvement in the film and her role as a producer.

The film’s plot centers on Natalie Mills, a popular blogger who has built her career on idealizing traditional domestic life (the “tradwife” aesthetic). Her online life consists of curated images of old-fashioned femininity and coziness. However, the story takes an unexpected turn when the protagonist is suddenly transported to the early nineteenth century.
Finding herself in the real past, Natalie is forced to live without any of the modern conveniences that previously formed the basis of her virtual image. What she romanticized online turns out to be a physically exhausting, isolated, and deadly reality. The film is billed as a deep psychological thriller that explores the shattering of illusions and the loss of control over one’s own identity.
For Anne Hathaway, this role will be a continuation of a series of complex female characters she has previously portrayed in the films “Les Misérables,” “Thinking of You,” and “Mother Mary.” In addition to “Yesteryear,” the actress is currently working on other literary adaptations, including the dark thriller “Verity,” based on the novel by Colleen Hoover. She is also involved in Christopher Nolan’s new ambitious project “Odyssey,” which tells the story of King Odysseus’s return home after the Trojan War.
The film’s release is considered one of Hollywood’s most anticipated events due to the relevance of the social media theme and Hathaway’s popularity in the psychological drama genre.
