The EU has once again postponed a decision on a new package of sanctions against Russia

European Union ambassadors were unable to reach an agreement on adopting the 21st package of sanctions against Russia. Negotiations on this issue will continue in the near future.

At the same time, EU representatives decided to temporarily maintain the current price cap on Russian oil until July 23, while discussions on new restrictions continue.

The EU has frozen the price cap on Russian oil for one week while member states negotiate the 21st package of sanctions against Russia.

"We were unable to reach a consensus on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia today, despite several attempts. Coreper decided to freeze the price cap on Russian oil at the current level of $44.1 per barrel for one week while discussions continue,” one of EuroPravda’s sources said.

He clarified that the price cap on Russian oil is currently frozen until Thursday, July 23.

By then, most diplomats hope that a consensus on the sanctions package will still be reached.

A “European Truth” correspondent in Brussels learned this from EU diplomats familiar with the situation.

We previously reported that the EU hopes to agree on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia on July 15.

The European Union has expanded its sanctions list against Russia, adding the company VK and its subsidiary “Communication Platform,” which created the Russian messaging app “Max.” The European Union noted that the messaging app was developed under the supervision of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), which set mandatory requirements for its creation.

The European Commission is proposing new measures to reduce imports from illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Options include import licensing, additional tariffs, or a complete ban on the import of such goods.
