European Commission to allocate €130 million for drones and protection against them — Anadolu Agency
In Turkey, the European Commission announced the allocation of an additional €130 million to strengthen the capabilities of EU member states in the field of drones and counter-drone measures. The funds are also intended to help strengthen security at the European Union’s external borders.
Funding for border protection
The funding is provided under the Border Management and Visa Policy Instrument. It is part of broader EU efforts to improve border surveillance and respond to new security threats, Anadolu Agency reports.
According to the European Commission, the support will help national authorities improve situational awareness, strengthen the protection of the EU’s external borders, and respond to risks associated with the unauthorized or hostile use of drones.

More than €500 million in total
The new funding complements €250 million announced in December 2025, as well as another €169 million made available earlier this year. These funds were intended for surveillance drones and related equipment for the European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex and EU member states.
Following the new decision, the total amount of available funding from EU home affairs funds for surveillance and counter-drone technologies will exceed €500 million.
