Manchester United fans call on Ratcliffe to leave — MyJoyOnline
In the United Kingdom, the Manchester United Muslim Supporters Club (MUMSC) has called on Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to leave the club following his remarks about immigration levels and the country’s decline. The group also expressed no confidence in the club’s current ownership structure and called for the Glazer family to leave.
As MyJoyOnline reports, Ratcliffe said in an interview with the BBC that the United Kingdom is declining because of a combination of high taxes and high levels of immigration. He had previously apologised for wording suggesting that the country had allegedly been “colonised by immigrants”.
Fan group’s reaction
In a statement, MUMSC said it had already condemned Ratcliffe’s previous remarks and hoped that he had learned from them after apologising. Representatives of the association described the new comments as deeply disappointing and wholly unacceptable. According to them, Ratcliffe has again placed immigration and people receiving welfare benefits at the centre of his explanation for the United Kingdom’s problems.

The group stressed that Manchester United’s players, employees, stewards, security staff and supporters come from different national, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds. MUMSC said that this diversity is part of the club, not its weakness.
Complaints against the owners
Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7% stake in Manchester United in 2024. Since then, he has overseen a restructuring of the organisation that included 450 job cuts, changes in senior management and the dismissal of two coaches.
MUMSC said its members had pinned hopes on Ratcliffe’s arrival for substantial changes after the period of Glazer management. Among its complaints, the group cited rising ticket prices, the condition of the stadium and the team’s results. Before the start of the weekend, Manchester United were 13th in the Premier League, having collected four points in their first four matches, and had also been knocked out of the English League Cup after a 2–3 home defeat to Brighton.
