Iran allegedly installed radar systems for Yemen’s Houthis on the heights of Yemen’s western coast after the group seized areas near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post, citing the UAE-based media outlet Al-Ain.
According to Al-Ain, Iranian specialists visited strategic sites on the coast, including the Bab el-Mandeb area, the port and airport of Mocha. The outlet claims that following these visits, radars and new positions allegedly appeared on heights above the western coast and newly acquired territories under Houthi control. The specific type of radar systems that may have been deployed was not specified.
Control over the coast
As the Jerusalem Post writes, on September 11, the Houthis launched a rapid offensive along the coast and captured Mocha and strategic areas near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. According to Al-Ain, the group is building trenches in mountainous areas to prevent government forces from regaining control over this territory, while also increasing activity along the coast.

Al-Ain claims that Tehran is seeking to turn the stretch of Yemen’s coast from Hodeidah to Bab el-Mandeb into a front line of its regional network of influence. The report also mentions activity on Zuqar Island near the Hanish archipelago in the Red Sea.
Claims about equipment supplies
According to Al-Ain’s version, shipments of Iranian equipment and weapons have recently been reaching the Houthis via the western coast, allegedly delivered from the Somali coast. The outlet named Hassan al-Attas, head of the Red Sea Fisheries Authority in Hodeidah, as the person who, according to its sources, controls the unloading of these cargoes.
Al-Ain also stated that al-Attas recruits fishermen and people with maritime experience for Houthi activities and organizes the maritime delivery of cargoes to the coast of Hodeidah. According to the Jerusalem Post, after the September offensive, the Houthis intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia.
