Finland has determined its approach toward Ukraine following the downing of drones — Yle

The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially confirmed its position on the strategy of Ukrainian strikes against the aggressor country’s territory.

Yle reports on this.

Helsinki not only refuses to impose any restrictions on the selection of targets but also fully supports Kyiv’s right to full self-defense within the framework of international law.

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen made it clear in her statement that her country will not demand that Ukraine cease or reduce attacks on Russian oil refineries and energy infrastructure.

“Finland is not demanding anything of the sort. But, of course, we must ensure that Finns are not put in danger,” the minister noted.

She emphasized that the safety of Finnish citizens remains the top priority, but this in no way negates Ukraine’s legitimate right to destroy the occupier’s military and economic resources.

Elina Valtonen emphasized that Ukraine’s defensive actions are entirely legitimate in the context of full-scale aggression.

As a NATO member, Finland adheres to the principle that a country under attack may strike targets on enemy territory if they support the enemy’s military machine.

“Ukraine has the right to defend itself,” Valtonen stated succinctly but firmly.

She also added that Finland does not interfere in the strategic planning of the Ukrainian military and does not specify which targets should be hit by medium- and long-range UAVs.

As a reminder, two drones, likely belonging to Ukraine, crashed on Finnish territory on Sunday.

Also in Finland, a drone carrying a warhead was detonated after it crashed.
