Emirates Foundation and Responsible AI sign agreement in New York — The National
Emirates Foundation and the Responsible AI Future Foundation signed a partnership agreement in New York, United States, to use artificial intelligence for the benefit of society. The signing took place on September 23 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, shortly before a discussion on AI, philanthropy and inclusive growth at the UAE Mission to the UN.
As The National reports, the parties intend to use AI for broader public benefit, implement principles for the responsible use of technology, develop skills and help ensure that people in areas of critical need have access to the benefits of AI.
Partnership participants
Emirates Foundation is a philanthropic organization from Abu Dhabi, founded in 2005 to support social development through public-private partnerships. The Responsible AI Future Foundation was launched by Microsoft and Abu Dhabi-based G42, with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence as its founding academic partner.

The Responsible AI Future Foundation works with governments and organizations in the Middle East and the Global South. The organization helps states develop sovereign AI capabilities adapted to their languages, cultures and needs.
Practical application
Emirates Foundation Secretary General Ahmed Al Shamsi said the foundation had been working on this area for about a year and a half, and that the agreement marked a stage for launching projects not only in the UAE but also globally. According to him, the goal is to create practical AI use cases, distribute them among communities that need such solutions, and develop skills for using them.
Mohamed Al Hosani, Emirates Foundation's director of business development and partnerships, said the next step would be cooperation with organizations in the UAE and other countries so that AI solutions can help communities. Al Shamsi also noted that the foundation is already testing certain use cases in a special environment and plans to further distribute innovations created in the UAE for society's needs.
