Frederiksen calls conclusions on work of US, Denmark and Greenland group premature
In Finland, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that it is currently premature to draw conclusions about the work of the trilateral group of Denmark, the United States and Greenland. At the same time, she expressed optimism about the possibility of finding a way forward peacefully.
The group’s work continues
As Anadolu Agency reports, Frederiksen told journalists after the European Arctic Summit that the working group continues its work. According to her, clear signs and signals are already visible.
The group involving representatives of Denmark, the United States and Greenland was created after Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Greenland’s then Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt visited Washington in January. During the trip, they met with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Arctic security
The prime minister stressed that Denmark supports closer cooperation with the United States in security and defense, particularly in Greenland. She also said that the island is under significant pressure amid increased international attention and thanked European partners for their broad and resolute support for Denmark.
Frederiksen also pointed to the growing involvement of European and transatlantic partners in ensuring security in the Arctic. According to her, 10 NATO allies are currently conducting joint exercises in Greenland. She added that previously, the Arctic region had effectively not been an item on the agenda of either the EU or NATO.
