The head of Indian intelligence met with Bangladesh's defense adviser in Dhaka
The head of India’s foreign intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW); Parag Jain met on August 10, 2026, in Dhaka with the defense adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tariq Rahman—retired Brigadier General Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam. NDTV World reported this, citing sources.
According to the publication, Jain arrived in Bangladesh at the invitation of the Directorate General of Intelligence (DGFI) of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. He was accompanied by a four-person delegation. The Indian side has not officially commented on this meeting.

NDTV sources claim that regional and bilateral cooperation, as well as security issues, were discussed during the visit. Sources from both sides interviewed by the publication described the trip as “routine.” Prior to his visit to Bangladesh, Jain had been in China.
The meeting took place amid efforts by India and Bangladesh to normalize bilateral relations. On the same day, India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh held a separate meeting in Dhaka with Prime Minister Tariq Rahman. The DGFI is Bangladesh’s primary military intelligence agency, while the R&AW is responsible in India for gathering foreign intelligence and conducting counterterrorism operations.
