Polish Defense Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz will visit Ukraine on the day commemorating the victims of the Volhynia tragedy

On Saturday, July 11, Polish Minister of National Defense Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysz will visit the Volyn Oblast. There, he will take part in memorial events honoring those who died during World War II.

The Polish official announced his visit on the eve of the anniversary of the Volyn tragedy. According to him, he will take part in the memorial events that have been held in the region for many years.

Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced that he will arrive in the Volyn region on July 11. According to the minister, he plans to join in honoring the memory of the victims of the events that took place in Volhynia during World War II.

Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that for many years now, on this very day, memorial services have been conducted by Vitaliy Skomarovsky, Bishop of the Lutsk Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. “For many years now, on this day, Vitaliy Skomarovsky, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lutsk, has been holding memorial services in memory of the victims,” the Polish minister said. The visit will take place against the backdrop of the latest anniversary of the Volhynia tragedy—a topic that remains a sensitive issue in relations between Ukraine and Poland.

The day before, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also commented on this date. He stated that he expects Ukraine to reevaluate historical events, while at the same time urging Polish politicians not to succumb to “excessive emotions” during public discussions.

Despite differing interpretations of historical events, Kyiv and Warsaw have continued to cooperate in recent years in the areas of security, defense, and support for Ukraine amid a full-scale war. At the same time, the issue of historical memory remains one of the most complex in the bilateral dialogue. Commemorative events in Volhynia are expected to be attended by representatives of the clergy, local authorities, and a Polish delegation. He wrote about this on social media.

Poland will cooperate with Ukraine on the production and maintenance of PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems following the signing of a multilateral agreement with the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden to establish a maintenance center for these missiles in Europe.

Trump stated that the U.S. may allow Ukraine to manufacture missiles for the Patriot system.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Spain ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, declaring his intention to sever trade relations and halt visits between the two countries.

Before the start of the NATO summit in Ankara, U.S. President Donald Trump once again accused allies of underfunding the Alliance, while praising the work of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
