British Home Secretary Jess Phillips has resigned. The reasons behind this decision and further personnel changes within the government are currently being clarified.

In a letter to Sir Starmer, Phillips stated that she considers him “a generally good person who cares about the right things.”
“However, I have seen with my own eyes that this is not enough. The desire to avoid controversy means that we rarely engage in it, which leaves opportunities for progress untapped and postponed,” she noted.
In her letter, Phillips emphasized that every Labour government during her lifetime has achieved progress that has changed the country and the world for the better.
"I want a Labour government to succeed, and I will, as always, strive for its success and popularity, but I do not see the changes that I believe I and the country expect, and therefore I cannot continue to serve as a minister under the current government," she added.
