Cyprus National Guard chief calls for constant readiness

Cyprus National Guard chief Lieutenant General Emmanuel Theodorou stated that the prolonged occupation of part of the island and the rapid development of events in the region require constant vigilance. The operational readiness of the National Guard on land, at sea and in the air is, according to him, one of the main priorities. Cyprus Mail reports.

Modernisation of the National Guard

Theodorou spoke on September 8 at an event marking the day of the patron saint of the armed forces of the Republic of Cyprus. He said that the National Guard is changing and modernising, introducing new technologies and modern procedures to become more flexible and effective.

According to the National Guard chief, thanks to continuous training, daily activities and high-level cooperation with friendly countries, it continues to be a pillar of security for the Cypriot people and a guarantor of stability in the region.
