Governor Sani explains women ulama’s support for Tinubu
In Nigeria, Governor Uba Sani stated that the Northern Nigerian Women Ulama supported the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. This was reported by Premium Times Nigeria.
According to Sani, representatives of women ulama from 19 northern states expressed support for Tinubu during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Conference Centre. The governor claims that the delegates represent millions of members in the region.
Explanation of the support
Sani said that the participants explained their position by citing the president’s achievements in education, infrastructure, healthcare and agriculture. He also stated that Tinubu pursues inclusive policies, treats all parts of Nigeria equally and directs development to different regions of the country.

The governor specifically emphasized investments in general and vocational education. According to him, the president supported technical and vocational education and training, or TVET, programmes, as well as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND. Sani claims that, according to the dashboards of these programmes, Northern Nigeria’s share exceeds 60%.

The meeting was organized by the office of the president’s special adviser on political affairs, Ibrahim Masari. According to the publication, it was attended by Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Defence Minister Bello Matawalle and Housing Minister Muttaka Rabe Darma.
Sani also stated that governors supporting Tinubu intend to help the women ulama spread their appeal across all 19 northern states, as well as in local communities and electoral constituencies.
