Japan lowers travel warning level for Israel — Jerusalem Post
The Japanese government has lowered its travel advisory level for Israel from three to two, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, citing a statement by Japan’s foreign ministry. The decision means that Japanese authorities advise against non-essential travel, while the previous third level recommended not traveling to the country.
Review of recommendations
According to the Jerusalem Post, the decision was preceded by a dialogue between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. Israel’s foreign ministry called the change in the warning level important for bilateral relations, as well as for the development of business contacts and cooperation between the countries.

Exceptions for certain areas
The new second-level advisory also applies to the West Bank. At the same time, it does not apply to the area along Israel’s border with Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
Japan simultaneously changed its recommendations for certain areas of other Middle Eastern countries. Parts of Iraq and Lebanon were moved from the fourth to the third level, which, according to Japanese media reports, recommends evacuation. The fourth warning level was retained for the entire territory of Iran.
