Immigration to Italy in 2025 fell by 2.6%
In 2025, the number of people who moved to Italy decreased by 2.6% compared to the previous year. According to preliminary data from the statistical agency Istat, 440,000 people moved to the country, while in 2024 that figure stood at 452,000.
These figures include both foreigners who immigrated to Italy and Italian citizens who returned after living abroad. This was reported by “European Truth” with reference to the ANSA news agency.

At the same time, the number of Italians leaving the country also decreased in 2025. The number of such departures fell by approximately 30,000.
The number of births in Italy in 2025 also declined again, reaching its lowest level in the postwar era. The article also notes that immigration to Germany declined in 2025, and the country’s total population decreased.
