Iran says it struck Togo-flagged tanker in Strait of Hormuz — Anadolu Agency
In Iran, the Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said they struck the Togo-flagged oil tanker Trend in the Strait of Hormuz. According to their version, the vessel attempted overnight to carry out what the Iranian side called an “illegal passage” through the strait.
IRGC statement
As Anadolu Agency reports, the IRGC Navy’s statement was distributed by the state-run IRNA agency. Iranian military officials claim that the US military allegedly “incited and misled” the tanker before its attempt to pass through the strait.
The IRGC Navy said the tanker Trend was hit and stopped, and that a fire broke out aboard the vessel. At the same time, there is currently no independent confirmation of the strike, the fire, or the tanker’s condition.

Warning to shipowners
Iranian military officials also said they control the strategic strait and will block forces they consider aggressors. They reiterated their warning to shipowners and crews, saying that an “illegal passage” through the Strait of Hormuz would allegedly lead to the destruction of the violating vessel.
The statement did not provide information about the tanker’s cargo, crew composition, possible casualties, or whether the vessel remains afloat. US military officials did not immediately comment on the IRGC statement.
