Iran says it will deliver response to US proposals through mediators — Anadolu Agency

Iran said on October 8 that it would deliver, through mediators, a response to United States proposals on ending the war. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran had already set out its considerations and conditions for ending the war on all fronts and restoring security in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

Contacts through mediators

According to Baghaei, messages between Iran and the United States are conveyed through mediators. He also commented on a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said during a visit to Athens that Iran had not taken several opportunities to reach an agreement with Washington on its nuclear program.

In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson accused the United States of repeatedly violating its commitments. He mentioned Washington's withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018, as well as what he described as the disruption of diplomatic processes and military attacks on Iran during negotiations. Baghaei also placed responsibility for the current instability in the region and its economic consequences on the United States.

Safe routes in the strait

Separately, Baghaei said progress had been made in consultations between Iran and Oman on restoring the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the sides agreed on the geographical coordinates of safe routes for incoming and outgoing shipping through the strait.

Iran and Oman also reached an agreement on how to notify the relevant international body about this mechanism. Baghaei said this should happen in the near future and added that Iran would continue working to strengthen trust and cooperation among countries in the region.
