Iran has called on the United States to adhere to the framework agreement that Tehran and Washington concluded in June through Pakistan’s mediation. Iranian Interior Ministry spokesperson Ali Zaynvand said Tehran demands that Washington return to the agreements, according to Iranian state television, Anadolu Agency reports.

Tehran’s position

According to Zaynvand, the Islamabad memorandum of understanding was an important sovereign decision for Iran and received approval from the country’s top leadership. He also noted that Pakistan and other states continue diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the situation and bringing the sides back to the agreements.

The spokesperson stressed that the other side must respect its own signature and comply with the provisions of the agreement. He commented on the possible repeat visit to Tehran by Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who took part in mediation between Washington and Tehran.
