Israel killed a Hamas commander who was holding seven Israeli hostages

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of Mahmoud Abd al-Fattah Awad, who was the commander of the military wing of the terrorist organization Hamas.

The strike against Awad was carried out from the air late last week in the Gaza City area.

The Israeli military claims that during the war, Awad was involved in holding seven Israeli hostages in an underground tunnel near Gaza City.

The hostages were Daniela Gilboa, Karina Ariev, Doron Steinbrecher, Naama Levi, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Eitan Mor.

According to the Israeli military, Mahmoud Abd al-Fatt Awad has recently been involved in planning terrorist attacks against Israeli military personnel and civilians.

Furthermore, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, he was involved in rebuilding Hamas’s military capabilities.

Israel views these actions as a systematic violation of the ceasefire.

IDF Spokesperson’s Office emphasized that, according to their information, Awad continued activities directed against Israeli military personnel and the civilian population.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service had eliminated Muhammad Abu Alwan during a joint operation in the Khan Yunis area of the Gaza Strip. Katz identified him as the head of Hamas’s financial department.
