Kazakhstan is rerouting its oil exports due to the shutdown of the Druzhba pipeline

Kazakhstan is changing its oil supply routes following the temporary suspension of transit via the Druzhba pipeline in May.

Tengri News reports this.

Asel Serikpaeva, an advisor to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, stated that the ministry has redirected approximately 260,000 tons of oil to alternative destinations.

Specifically, 100,000 tons are planned to be sent to the port of Ust-Luga, and another 160,000 tons via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium system.

This involves adjusting supplies, specifically to the oil refinery in Schwedt, Germany, which previously received crude via the Druzhba pipeline.

According to Serikpaeva, the decision was agreed upon with shippers and is purely operational in nature.

She emphasized that the change in logistics will not affect the fulfillment of the annual production plan and will ensure stable supplies to global markets.

The ministry also assured that the existing infrastructure allows for uninterrupted oil exports despite the change in routes.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov confirmed that the transit of Kazakhstani oil to Germany via Russia has been temporarily suspended.

Ukraine has resumed oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline.
