Houthis claim Saudi Arabia carried out 94 airstrikes on Yemen — Jerusalem Post

The Houthis said that Saudi Arabia had carried out 94 airstrikes on Yemen over the past 24 hours. As The Jerusalem Post reports, this was stated by Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Houthis’ military wing. According to him, the attacks were carried out using fighter jets and missiles.

Houthi claims about the strikes

Saree claims that civilian sites in the provinces of Sanaa, Saada, Taiz, Hajjah, Amran and Al Bayda were allegedly targeted. He also reported civilians killed and wounded. The report contains no independent confirmation of these claims.

According to the Houthi spokesperson’s assessment, the number of Saudi strikes on Yemen has reached 1,350 since the escalation began. A source in Sanaa also told the Lebanese outlet Al Akhbar that the Houthis had threatened to attack bridges in Saudi Arabia in response to strikes they attribute to the Saudi military.

Missile interceptions and a possible offensive

The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Iran-linked Houthis said on Friday that it had intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles. According to Reuters, the Houthis launched them toward the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.

Reuters also reported, citing six people familiar with the preparations, that Saudi Arabia is preparing an offensive against the Houthis. Its stated goal is to weaken the group’s control over the coast and protect shipping routes in the Red Sea.

According to the agency, the operation could begin in the coming weeks. Ground operations are to be conducted by Yemeni forces under Riyadh’s supervision, with support from Saudi aviation. Saudi officials are considering a limited offensive near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait or a broader operation on several fronts. Depending on the scale, more than 100,000 Yemeni military personnel could be involved.
