Kim Jong Un toured a museum honoring North Korean soldiers killed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited a memorial museum currently under construction to honor North Korean soldiers sent to support Russia in the war against Ukraine. The museum is expected to open as early as next month.
This was reported by The Korea Times.
The day before, Kim Jong Un “provided on-site instructions regarding the construction of the memorial museum of military exploits in overseas military operations.” According to him, construction is 93% complete. The country’s leader noted that the museum will be “opened on the occasion of the first anniversary of the liberation of Kursk.”
Kim Jong Un described the construction as “a noble endeavor designed to forever enshrine in history the incomparable bravery and mass heroism displayed by our soldiers during military operations abroad.”
According to South Korea, about 6,000 North Korean soldiers who fought on Moscow’s side were killed or wounded. Currently, there are about 11,000 North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region, of whom 10,000 are regular troops and 1,000 are engineering units.
Earlier, a military parade in Pyongyang showcased soldiers who allegedly fought in the Kursk region on Russia’s side against Ukraine. Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that thousands of DPRK soldiers died in the war.
In addition, Kim Jong Un opened a new street in the capital, Pyongyang, dedicated to North Korean soldiers who died during Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Prior to this, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, along with his daughter Kim Ju-ae, observed the testing of strategic cruise missiles launched from a warship.
