Kyrgyzstan has completely banned fuel exports due to supply problems from Russia
The Kyrgyz government has imposed an indefinite ban on the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products. The restrictions will remain in effect until the domestic market is fully supplied.
The country imports more than 90% of its petroleum products from Russia. Amid a reduction in Russian supplies, Kyrgyzstan faces the risk of a fuel shortage.
To stabilize the situation, the government has already signed contracts with Belarus and China to supply diesel and jet fuel.
Similar problems have arisen in Tajikistan, where officials have reported having approximately 60 days’ worth of fuel reserves and are seeking alternative suppliers.
