The caviar brand Kaluga Queen, developed by experts from China’s Ministry of Agriculture, is the world’s largest supplier. In 2024, it produced 260 tons, representing 35% of global output. The brand’s founder states they collaborate with 46 countries and that their products have been served in 23 of the 26 Michelin three-star restaurants in France.
Russian experts note that up to one-third of the black caviar sold in Russia is also imported from China. Market participants highlight that much of the Chinese caviar is repackaged and sold under the Russian label.
