China allocates $33.7 million for disaster relief in five provinces — ECNS
China’s Ministry of Emergency Management urgently allocated 240 million yuan, or about $33.7 million, from central natural disaster relief funds on September 7, 2026. The money is intended for emergency rescue operations and assistance in five provinces affected by floods and geological disasters, ECNS reports.
Regions and areas of assistance
The funding will be directed to the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Yunnan. Priorities include relocating residents from affected areas to safe places, eliminating hazardous factors, providing assistance for temporary accommodation and repairing damaged homes.

Heavy rains after the typhoon
According to the ministry, Typhoon Sheyder brought prolonged heavy rains to parts of southern China. Extreme precipitation caused floods and geological disasters, resulting in casualties and damage to residential buildings.
Officials said the allocated funds are intended to help affected areas resume production activities and daily life as quickly as possible.
