Turkey posted the largest PISA score gains among OECD members in three subjects
In Turkey, students improved their results in science, reading and mathematics in the PISA 2025 international assessment. The country demonstrated the largest increase in scores among members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in all three disciplines, Anadolu Agency reports.
Results in three subjects
In science, Turkey scored 494 points — 18 more than in 2022 and 26 more than in 2018. The OECD average was 482 points, while the average among all participating countries and economies was 443 points.
The reading score increased by 16 points compared with 2022, reaching 472 points. The OECD average in this discipline was 461 points, while the overall average score of participants was 420 points. In mathematics, Turkish students scored 462 points, nine more than in 2022. This was one point below the OECD average of 463 points, but above the overall average of participants, which was 429 points.

Ranking positions
In the PISA 2025 cycle, 91 countries and economies took part. Turkey ranked 19th in science, rising from 34th place in 2022; 18th in reading instead of 36th; and 28th in mathematics instead of 39th.
Among OECD members, the country rose from 29th to 14th place in science, from 30th to 13th in reading, and from 32nd to 23rd in mathematics. The share of Turkish students with the highest science results increased from 4% in 2022 to 7.4% in 2025, exceeding the OECD average of 7.2%.
The testing was conducted digitally from April 14 to May 16, 2025. It involved 7,702 Turkish students from 203 schools in 56 provinces of the country.
