China launches route for king crab exports — ECNS
In China, the first charter cargo flight carrying king crabs departed from Yanji Chaoyangchuan International Airport in Jilin Province for Hong Kong on September 19. The aircraft transported about 11 tonnes of products — 948 boxes with a total value of 3.57 million yuan, or approximately $496,000.
First specialized flight
As ECNS reports, Changchun Customs described the flight as the launch of China’s first specialized charter cargo route for exporting king crabs. Before the first departure, customs authorities carried out preparations to ensure the flight’s operation.

Russian king crabs were processed for export through a logistics hub in Hunchun and then delivered to Yanji Airport by refrigerated trucks. The cargo was sent to Hong Kong the same day; the entire route took less than five hours.
Transportation plans
The route is operated by Jiangsu Jingdong Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. This year, 20 to 22 flights are planned on the route, transporting about 500 tonnes of king crabs with an estimated value of 100 million yuan. Part of the cargo is subsequently planned to be transported from Hong Kong to markets in Southeast Asia. Yanbian in Jilin Province is China’s largest distribution center for imported king crabs.
