Queen Sonja of Norway has been hospitalized due to heart problems
Queen Sonja of Norway, 88, has been admitted to the hospital. On May 27, the Royal Palace in Oslo issued the following statement:
“Her Majesty the Queen was admitted to the National Hospital today due to heart problems. The Queen has atrial fibrillation and heart failure, and she will remain in the hospital for several days for examination and observation.”
The Queen’s hospitalization came just a week after she was forced to cancel engagements, including a lunch with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the time, the Palace stated that this was due to atrial fibrillation and that it would not affect her upcoming engagements.
In January 2025, Queen Sonja underwent surgery to have a pacemaker implanted.
