Putin's motorcade in Astana was escorted by an armored vehicle, electronic warfare equipment, and a helicopter

During Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Astana, his motorcade moved under heavy security, which included armored vehicles, a suspected electronic warfare system, and helicopter air cover.

This is reported by Russian media.

Footage released showing the motorcade’s movement toward the Palace of Independence reveals that Putin’s limousine was accompanied by approximately 14 motorcycles, the motorcade included several escort vehicles, and a military armored vehicle brought up the rear. Additionally, helicopter cover was in operation over the city.

According to OSINT analysts, the convoy may have included an “Alan” armored vehicle with a machine gunner’s position on the roof, as well as a vehicle that could be equipped with an electronic warfare (EW) system or communications equipment

Representatives of research groups note that some of the equipment is difficult to identify definitively due to modifications and concealed equipment.

It is reported that streets were blocked during the motorcade’s passage, armed security forces were stationed along the route, and resources from special services and military aviation were deployed.

Kazakh security services had warned in advance of extensive traffic restrictions in Astana during the Russian president’s visit.

Earlier, Western media reported on heightened security measures surrounding Putin, including the use of more secure routes and special travel protocols.

Recall that a segment in which Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was unable to clearly utter a triple “hurrah” during a meeting with military personnel was removed from official Kremlin publications and broadcasts on Russian state television channels.

Even official Russian polls, which the Kremlin uses as a propaganda tool, recorded a sharp drop in Vladimir Putin’s approval ratings from 74% in February to 65.6% in April, while his trust rating fell by 7 points to 71%. For Russia, this is the worst result since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022.
