NATO country to mobilize 180,000 troops in the event of war — DR
Denmark is actively building a powerful mobilization reserve of 180,000 military personnel to defend against potential Russian aggression.
Russia is currently preparing for a new wave of escalation against European states, and only the colossal losses suffered by its army in Ukraine are currently holding back the expansion of the armed conflict.
This is reported by the authoritative Danish publication DR, which has conducted a detailed analysis of classified documents regarding the country’s new defense policy.
According to these plans, the strategic mobilization reserve will be formed from fully trained conscripts after they complete their 11-month term of service in the Danish Armed Forces.
The military command plans to recruit up to 13,000 people into the army each year, creating a reliable defensive shield. The general mobilization reserve will include men and women up to the age of 65 who have received appropriate training.
To maintain this high potential, the Danish Armed Forces will conduct mandatory ten-day training sessions for former service members for ten years after they complete their service.
Relevant agencies have already calculated clear stages for increasing the number of conscripts in the coming years.
“By 2030, Denmark’s defense will require approximately 6,500 conscripts annually. The potential recruitment pool will comprise 64,518 citizens aged 18 and older, including 31,634 women and 32,884 men,” according to documents from the Ministry of Defense.
Under these parameters, the country will enlist approximately one in ten members of the relevant age cohort, which will form the basis for a stable replenishment of the trained reserve.
In the future, the needs of the national army will grow significantly due to the deterioration of the overall security situation in Europe.
“By 2033, the need will rise to 10,000 conscripts per year. The estimated number of 18-year-olds will be 61,573, of whom 29,956 are women and 31,617 are men,” DR analysts state.
Copenhagen is deliberately turning military service into a mass element of preparing the population for potential crisis scenarios.

The U.S. plans to significantly reduce its military contribution to NATO by cutting back on the provision of key resources and equipment. Washington is effectively calling on its European allies to take on a larger share of the defense burden sooner.
