The Kremlin has named a representative from the Russian Federation to attend Khamenei's funeral

Russia will be represented at the funeral ceremony for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council. He will arrive in Tehran as a special representative of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The Russian delegation will also include representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Orthodox Church, and a group of Sunni and Shia theologians. The funeral ceremony will begin on July 4 in Tehran, and the burial is scheduled for July 9 in Mashhad—Khamenei’s hometown. Mourning events will also take place in the city of Qom, which is sacred to Shiites.

This was announced by Iran’s ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, citing a leading Iranianmedia outlet.

Ali Khamenei’s funeral will be held in two countries.

As a reminder, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in strikes by the U.S. and Israel, will be buried in the holy city of Mashhad.

As a reminder, several Western news agencies reported that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s body was found under the rubble of his residence.

The Israeli military published a list of high-ranking Iranian officials who, according to them, were killed in the airstrikes on February 28.
