Lavrov called Zelenskyy a "Führer" and accused Europe of undermining global security

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at the 12th roundtable discussion on “The Ukrainian Crisis. The West’s True Goals and Role,” made harsh statements directed at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling him a “Führer.”

According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Ukrainian leader is allegedly obstructing the negotiation process between Kyiv and Moscow.

“Führer—that’s exactly what he is. He was cast in the role of a Führer, plucked from the amateur ranks, but, you see, this image has turned out to be contagious,” Lavrov said.

The Russian foreign minister also stated that, in his opinion, the main threat to global security comes from Europe. He claims that Brussels needs the idea of a ceasefire to create a so-called “coalition of the willing” in support of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, also made further statements regarding the war against Ukraine.

According to him, the only “red line” for Moscow remains the deliberate killing of civilians, while as for Ukraine—which, according to the Russian side, is intensifying its attacks on Russian cities—there can no longer be any rules.

The statements by Russian officials came amid the ongoing war and diplomatic discussions regarding possible ways to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

As a reminder, on June 19, Sergey Lavrov called the European countries’ proposal on Ukraine an ultimatum and threatened nuclear strikes in the event of a direct confrontation with NATO.

Zelenskyy and Tusk held a meeting in Brussels following the tensions.

Zelenskyy warned of intensified Russian attacks despite Putin’s weakened position.
