Sudanese doctors accuse RSF of looting hospital in Sodari — Anadolu Agency

The Sudan Doctors Network has accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of looting a rural hospital in the city of Sodari, North Kordofan state, and destroying its medical equipment. Anadolu Agency reports.

Statement by the medical network

The independent medical group said that before the war, the hospital served more than 50,000 families. It said that the RSF attacked and looted the facility's infrastructure, devices and medical equipment, leaving the hospital destroyed.

The network stressed that the damage has deprived residents of the area of basic medical services at a time of acute humanitarian and medical needs. The doctors described the looting and destruction of medical facilities as a direct violation of the right to health, which weakens the healthcare system's ability to assist civilians.

The network called on the international community, humanitarian and human rights organizations to condemn these violations, help protect medical facilities in conflict zones, and demand that the RSF leadership stop attacks on medical institutions and hold those responsible accountable. The RSF did not immediately comment on the allegations.

Fighting in North Kordofan

On the previous day, the Sudanese army said it had taken control of Sodari and inflicted personnel and equipment losses on the RSF. The military also said it had captured 11 areas in North Kordofan state. Since the end of July, the army has reported regaining control of Bara, Jabra al-Sheikh and Umm Sayala, as well as securing the main road between Bara and Omdurman west of the capital, Khartoum.

Fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF in the states of North, West and South Kordofan has continued since October last year. The war between the sides in Sudan has been ongoing since 2023; according to estimates by the UN and international organizations, it has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and the displacement of about 13 million people.
