Orłowski Hospital in Warsaw halves planned procedures — RMF24
The Independent Public Clinical Hospital named after Professor Witold Orłowski in Warsaw, Poland, is halving the number of planned procedures. The decision is linked to the institution’s difficult financial situation.
Which procedures will be limited
The restrictions will primarily affect planned procedures in the urology and general surgery departments. Patients will be informed of new, later dates for their procedures.
Hospital director Tomasz Kopeć said he has no information about guaranteed funding. According to him, the signed contract is valid only until the end of October.

NFZ funding shortfall
Heads of other Polish hospitals are also reporting financial problems. As RMF24 reports, Polish Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda confirmed that the National Health Fund (NFZ) is short of 14 billion zlotys through the end of the year. There is currently no ready solution to cover the funding gap.
According to the minister, negotiations with the Ministry of Finance are ongoing. She also noted that each hospital has concluded contracts, while its management determines how work is organized. According to the NFZ, the situation is planned to be partially improved with money from the fund’s reserve, including for hospitals in the Masovian Voivodeship. This concerns more than 300 million zlotys, but the needs are significantly greater. RMF24 notes that other hospitals may also limit planned procedures in the coming weeks.
