Forest fire in Argaka, Cyprus, brought under control in 20 minutes

In Argaka, in the Paphos district of Cyprus, a forest fire was brought fully under control within 20 minutes. The fire affected a small area of dry grass, Cyprus Mail reports.

Fire in a state forest

According to the Forestry Department, the fire broke out at around 09:30 in the Mandra area, on the territory of the Paphos state forest. The fire started on Monday morning. The report mentions only a small area of dry grass affected by the fire.

Firefighting operation

Eight Forestry Department employees and two fire engines were involved in the operation. Firefighting units were immediately mobilized after the fire was reported. By 09:50, the fire had been fully brought under control, preventing its spread.

Cause of the fire named

The Forestry Department reported that the fire was caused by the use of a metal-cutting tool. Twenty minutes passed from the stated time when the fire started until full control over the blaze was established.
