A flight to Spain was delayed because of mosquitoes
In Milan, an unusual incident disrupted the departure of a passenger plane bound for Spain. Due to a swarm of mosquitoes that filled the cabin, the flight had to be canceled, and the passengers were transferred to another plane.
The incident occurred at Milan-Malpensa Airport. Despite the crew’s attempts to handle the situation, there were so many insects that it was impossible to fly safely.
The Ryanair plane, scheduled to operate flight FR1423 to Alicante, Spain, was already preparing for takeoff. However, just before takeoff, passengers noticed a huge swarm of mosquitoes flying around the cabin. The flight attendants tried to shoo the insects away using whatever they had on hand. According to eyewitnesses, they even used magazines, but it didn’t help.
Among the passengers was Alisa Piscitelli, an Italian politician and lawyer from Milan. She filmed what was happening and posted the video on TikTok. “I’ve never seen so many mosquitoes at once. Some people still wanted to take off, while others, like me, didn’t want to fly under those conditions,” she said.
After that, the crew decided to turn off the cabin lights, hoping the insects would stop swarming around the passengers. But this method didn’t work either. The situation was complicated by the fact that one of the female passengers reported having a severe allergy to mosquito bites. Because of this, the crew did not want to risk anyone’s safety. As a result, all passengers were evacuated from the plane and provided with another flight. Due to this unusual incident, the departure was delayed by approximately three hours.
A video from inside the cabin quickly went viral on social media and sparked lively discussion. Many users admitted that this was the first time they had heard of a case where ordinary mosquitoes caused a flight to be canceled. This was reported by Bild.
